FAQ
1. Does is cost anything to participate in VOYCE Academy?
No! The VOYCE Academy is completely free to all participants.
2. Can I have a job while participating in the VOYCE Academy?
YES! As long as it does not conflict with the Academy house (M-F 9am-2pm)
3. What are the required qualifications to attend the VOYCE Academy?
You must be enrolled in school and have a 2.0 GPA and be between 14-25 years old.
4. What is a Project VOYCE Youth Trainer?
The Project VOYCE Youth Trainer is a youth who completed the VOYCE Academy and successfully passed the certification test. The certification test will show you've gained the skills and knowledge needed to deliver trainings, presentations, and workshops to educators and community members. A Project VOYCE Youth Trainer has the opportunity to receive a monetary incentive above the Colorado minimum wage.

Swansea Spring Festival is Returning this May!
Please save the date for the Swansea Elementary School Spring Festival. This end-of-year celebration brings Swansea families, neighbors and friends together to celebrate our wonderful students, school and community.
This event also gives Swansea families and residents a chance to learn more about summer programming and resources for their students and family.

The GDC is the annual citywide cleanup day when Denver residents can clean up and clear out around the house, in the yard or around the neighborhood — then haul their discarded items to a free drop site
Project VOYCE is partnering with Groundwork to sponsor a canvassing day for our students this Saturday, May 20th. We will be meeting at the Project VOYCE office (3455 Ringsby Ave. #131 Denver, CO 80216) at 10am and will be canvassing until 2pm. Students will be educating our neighbors in Swansea and down York St. about the Ditch the Ditch campaign and will be getting our yard signs out and about!

This month's theme is earth, where we will be discussing & workshopping on the environment and our individual carbon footprints and how to employ the appropriate recycling tools to reduce our wastefulness! We also will be doing a case study on 80216, which was declared the most polluted zip code in the United States, discussing how we can advocate for ourselves from environmental injustices.

Screening of Digital Stories: An Exploration of Community Experiences within Urban Landscapes

This movie proposes that the amendment that abolished slavery led to the mass incarceration of African American men that we see today. We will watch the movie and have a panelist discussion Q & A about the movie and the Denver justice system and what racial reconcilation can look like in our neighborhood.

The Parker Symphony Orchestra and Parker Arts are presenting an amazing concert featuring works by composers of color from the late 1700’s to the late 1900’s. The program includes “Three Black Kings” by Duke Ellington with a saxophone solo performed by Art Bouton, Scott Joplin’s “The Entertainer” and the Overture to “Treemonisha”, William Grant Still’s “Afro-American Symphony”, and the Overture in D by Joseph Bologne (also known as The Black Mozart).

Colorado Humanities presents National humanities and Chautauqua scholar Becky Stone who will portray Harriet Tubman during this year’s programs, showing us how one woman became an abolitionist, leading hundreds of slaves to freedom on the Underground Railroad, Union spy during the American Civil War, and one of America's most beloved humanitarians.
Becky Stone holds a B.A. in Drama from Vassar College and a M.A. from Villanova University in Elementary Educational Counseling. Professor Stone has performed at libraries, schools, and universities across North Carolina, as well as camps, church conferences, and music festivals throughout the country.
